We are five people, 2 dogs, 2 garage/catio cats (not in the main house), and 8 chickens on 2 acres, five minutes east of downtown Lafayette in a 12-sided, passive solar house. (Sorry--we can't take more animals.) 

The cost of the room actually varies from $600-950, including utilities and shared costs (I can send a list of those). Everyone in the house engages in some trade, but the $950 would be with no trade--the current resident pays $600 including all utilities and shared costs, so it depends on how many trade hours you want to complete. 

We have a multitude of gardens (most food producing), tons of indoor plants, 3000 sq feet of space including shared kitchen, great room, sunroom, and a 3-car garage we want to convert to a maker space. We are three educators (one in DPS and one at Naropa), a martial arts dojo owner, a manager at an organic greenhouse/nursery, and a CBD company employee. We are age, gender, race, and LGBTQ+ diverse and seek to maintain our home as a peaceful refuge while all contributing to work on the land. 

Folks who are happy here tend to know themselves well and are willing to be vulnerable in order to connect; they tend to be introverts, or content with quiet energy at home, as most of us expend energy in community throughout the day; they care about justice and ecological sustainability; they have experience living in community and/or know they want to be part of a community (not just rent a room). 

The room available is medium sized with a small loft (with ladder) the current resident uses as a meditation space. It shares a wall with another bedroom (a super awesome 30 year old woman who's been here for over 3 years), and there is a shared bathroom. Please note that we have an immune compromised person living in our community and can only consider folks who are willing to follow safety norms regarding COVID.
