Today, Dallas is an important industrial and financial center, whose economy is based on commerce, banking, energy, transport, telecommunications and computer industry.
Like most cities in the world, Dallas lies on a river. Since the early 2000s in Dallas implemented a large-scale project Trinity River Project designed to qualitatively transform the coastal area. Supporters and critics of the project agree that the Trinity River is a vital resource for the city and its potential is not fully used.
According to the plan, along the river in the city should turn into recreational and park areas. One of the initial stages of the project is the construction of Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. Currently, the bridge is being completed, but it is already clear that this building will become one of the symbols of the city. Another important water resource for the city is White Rock Lake, created by hand in the early 20th century and located to the North-East of downtown. The lake and the surrounding Park area are a popular holiday destination. On the Eastern part of the White Rock Lake are the Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Gardens. The main airport of Dallas is Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport or DFW. The airport is North of downtown and is the 5th busiest in the US and 6th in the world.
