A winning combination of elegance and casual living can be found nestled in the treetops of Carmel-by-the-Sea, the perfect hideaway that’s also close to the best of everything that the Monterey Peninsula has to offer.
The 4-bedroom, 2-bath custom-built home includes unique Old World designer touches such as hand-hewn walnut floors, intricate hand-laid tile and Italian marble, vaulted ceilings, Murano glass fixtures, custom cabinetry, stained glass, and artisan-wrought iron railings, as well as a comfortable open floor plan on the first floor that makes it ideal for hosting family gatherings or reunions of close friends.
The 1,600-square-foot residence is just a few blocks away from downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea and just around the corner from entertainment at the city’s renowned Sunset Center. It’s also only a 10-minute drive from golfing and dining in Pebble Beach, or to the monarch butterfly habitat in Pacific Grove. Other nearby attractions such the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row are also about 10 minutes away, and it’s about 15 minutes to wine tasting and antiques shopping in Carmel Valley.
Native plants, flax and succulents greet visitors along the stairway to the front door, which opens to a great room that includes the living room, dining room and kitchen. The living room, in tones of cream and blue, features a 36-inch HDTV as well as cozy seating around a wood-burning, gas-kindled fireplace, making this a place for conversation, playing board games or reading.
Upon your arrival you will be greeted with complimentary cheese and wine or sparkling cider, tickets for a wine tasting at Scheid Vineyards’ tasting room in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea and a basket of local information. An assigned concierge vacation house manager is available to assist you during your stay. We have also provided spa amenities in the bathrooms, spa robes and beach gear with everything you need for a day at the beach including chairs, blankets, towels, umbrella and cooler.
The adjacent dining table seats six beneath a Tiffany-style stained glass chandelier as well as original ocean-themed artwork. The fully-equipped kitchen next to the dining room features a custom tile backsplash, marble countertops, updated appliances including a Jenn-Aire gas stove with four burners, recessed lighting, and a deep farmhouse sink with a window that looks out to the backyard garden.
The back yard, accessible through French doors in the living room, is surrounded by a rustic wood fence for privacy and features several sitting areas surrounded by rhododendron, citrus trees and calla lilies, as well as native live oaks. A gourmet gas grill is available for afternoon barbecues, and patio seating makes this a perfect spot to sit and enjoy a glass of wine in the evening.
One bedroom with a full bed can be found on the first floor, adjacent to a bathroom with glass shower stall and custom tile throughout. Two more bedrooms and the master bedroom suite are found upstairs. One bedroom has a full bed, and another a queen, with custom cabinetry in each and windows that look down into the backyard garden.
The master bedroom features a queen bed with fabric headboard, with reading lights on either side, and a private balcony with bistro seating that looks out over the backyard garden. The en suite bath includes an old-fashioned clawfoot bathtub, custom tile, a heated towel bar, and a deep sink with marble vanity top.
A stacked washer and dryer are available next to the first floor bath. Parking for up to two small cars is available at the front of the home. Parking can otherwise be scarce in this area.
