Converted 1910 carriage house in the Oakdale neighborhood of Portland, next to the Univ. of Southern Maine. It is about half-way (5 minute drive either way) between the busy/touristy Old Port, and the bus/train depot. It is a quiet residential neighborhood away from the hubbub of downtown.
I have full-time tenants living on the first floor, and I, the home owner, have my own rooms on the second. The nicely converted attic is spacious, has WiFi, air-conditioning, and one double and one twin bed. There is no hand rail to the attic, so I don't recommend it for those with mobility issues, especially as the bathroom is on the 2nd floor. The guest breakfast room, also on the 2nd floor, has a small guest refrigerator, a microwave, a tea kettle, and reading chairs. Plenty of books around.
I have one cat, who does roam common areas, but isn't allowed in guest bedrooms. I welcome well-mannered dogs, but will ask an extra $10 for the extra cleaning dogs always require.
I'm a no-shoes household--keeps noise and dirt down.
I speak okay French, and a tad of Russian, as well as English, of course.
I do not accept guests for over a week's time.
