Description

Nestled up the Lyttelton hills in the Black Kiwi, you can enjoy the sights and sounds of harbour vessels and local bird life from your private balcony overlooking the historic port and township. The Black Kiwi is a private two bedroom guest apartment. The larger bedroom, looking out over the township and harbour, includes a Balinese double bed and a casual seating area. The second bedroom has the option of a California king bed or two singles . The compact kitchenette is equipped with fridge, microwave, toaster, panini maker, jug, French press and provisions for a continental breakfast. A private courtyard offers a large gas barbecue with 2 side burners. The 80's glam bathroom has a separate toilet, two sinks, a double shower and a spa bath with a view. Only 20 minutes from Christchurch, Lyttelton is home to a community of nearly 3,000. Quirky shops and award winning restaurants, cafés and pubs can be found along the main street. We're also equipped with a supermarket, organic vegetarian wholefood shop and liquor store, but no petrol station. Every Saturday the vibrant Lyttelton Farmers Market fills London Street with artisan food makers, local growers, musicians, arts and crafters and second hand traders attracting regular enthusiasts and visitors. Catch local music at the Wunderbar and Civil and Naval, theatre at the Loons Lyttelton Arts Factory and art exhibitions at 50 Works and Tin Palace Art Galleries. Explore the enticing harbour by ferry, cruise, tug, fishing boat, kayak or a swim in the bays dotted round the harbour. Lyttelton's Port Hills are full of wonderful walking tracks including one just metres from the Black Kiwi. The oldest and most well known track in Canterbury, the Bridle Path, is the route the first European settlers took to Christchurch after landing in Lyttelton in 1850. On a clear day the summit offers views over Lyttelton Harbour, Christchurch, the Canterbury Plains, the Kaikouras and the Southern Alps. Extras: Cleaning (included); Linen (included);
