Along a street of tall townhouses, Portland Road VII is picturesque outside and in. The entrance hallway is white and wooden-floored, and to the left is the king-sized master bedroom, where open shelves are filled with dozens of family portraits. The bathroom is at the end of the hallway, and facing the back of the home is the sitting room. Artwork hangs on its walls, grey sofas face a colourful coffee table, and a door leads to the small single bedroom.
Take the door opposite this one to reach the kitchen. It’s contemporary too, with cream cabinets and a metal-framed table, topped with bamboo baskets of potpourri. The hosts like entertaining in the paved garden outside (which has a table for six), but they also enjoy Notting Hill’s restaurants, bars and street markets.
