With eateries and delis on your doorstep, and some of London’s most-loved milieus a short walk away, Bayswater offers the best of both worlds, just minutes from the city. Notting Hill and Portobello Road are a picturesque, ten-minute saunter up the road, as is the stunningly affluent, canal-lined Warwick Avenue. So after flirting with the flaneur in you, retire to Westbourne Park Road, a spacious Victorian, three bedroom, three bathroom townhouse with a knowingly designed interior. Let the children loose on the fanciful array of toys, while you explore the master suite, with its stunning claw-footed bath and decadently proportioned bed.
Your hosts are a former fashion magazine stylist turned interior designer, and her lawyer husband. His exacting eye and her fashion heritage make their home an epitome of restrained style, whimsical flourishes here and there, meanwhile, conjure the patter of their children’s tiny feet.
Eye for detail
Step inside this beautiful family home and over the threshold of the open-plan sitting room and study. Tread the pale wood floorboards and admire the elegant lounge area at one end, with its crisp, grey corner sofa and space-age lamp atop a rug in muted lime green. At the other end, enjoy the vast bookcase of literature and garden-facing study area. Downstairs, the spot-lit, basement kitchen is bright, and entirely immaculate, with lots of storage space to keep appliances away from little hands, and a bench dining table for social mealtimes. Outdoors there's a wrought iron dining set and herb garden for languid afternoons. After dinner, retire to the first double, with its upholstered bedstead, or tuck up the little ones in the adorable children's’ room, where they can shirk sleep and paw through the complete Mr Men collection or daydream astride the rocking horse. The family bathroom is just across the hall, with its sweet sage palette and roll-top bath. Finally, discover the enormous master bedroom, with its graphite colour scheme, and indulgently large ensuite bathroom.
