Description

The best of both worlds Wicklow Street is awfully clever. A true urban space, this, with walls clad in graphic art upon a backdrop of elephant grey, its Nordic-chic furniture awoken with splashes of mustard and scarlet. Life here is easy, with space, style, and a few touches of pure, exuberant fun. Step outside for King’s Cross and St Pancras, one of the city’s most exciting areas, where you can dine in splendour, zoom to Paris or simply stroll beneath the arches that made Betjeman pick up his pen. Or, amble down through leafy streets to Russell Square and the British Museums, then on to Tottenham Court Road and Covent Garden. Whatever your mood, all of London is here, just waiting for you to get started. Smart move Your host is an architect, living in London and NYC. As you can see from Wicklow Street’s walls, he loves London, and spends every spare moment exploring the streets. Form and function Look out for the unusual light in the hall, its marriage of energy efficiency and intrigue won it an award. The sitting room’s similarly starry, all laid-back furniture, clean lines and dollops of intense colour. Next door, the eat-in kitchen’s efficient and shiny, with a retro table for all and a fridge freezer in fashionable jet black. The bathroom’s airy and floaty light stuffed with oodles of our White Company Toiletries. At the end of the day the master bedroom is a triumph of simplicity, with little to distract you from the calm walls, soft double bed, swathed in our deliciously crisp luxury linen. In the zone King’s Cross is entering the final phase of a huge regeneration – eat out, search for platform 9 and ¾, idle away an afternoon at the British Library or simply marvel at the soaring glass of St Pancras Station. You might zip to Paris on the Eurostar, or maybe you’ll explore the streets of Bloomsbury in search of the spirit of Virginia Woolf and co. You’re not far from the British Museum, and a short bus ride brings you to Holborn, Oxford Street, or down to the river. Alternatively, the journey from King’s Cross to Oxford Circus takes only five minutes.
