Our garden cottage is nestled on a quiet mountain side opposite the beautiful Chapman's Peak Drive in the idyllic suburb of Hout Bay, just 25 minutes out of Cape Town's city centre. The guest room is a tranquil and mindfully minimalist space overlooking the garden and outside patio (which is perfect for morning yoga). It's furnished with a queen size bed, ample cupboard space and a dressing table to store all your travelling bits and bobs. The lounge and dining areas, which open out onto the garden, offer a rustic space, perfect for reading on the couch (where Piccolo the cat will be your best friend), or getting in touch with nature relaxing in the hammock under the trees.
On balmy evenings, chilling on the patio with a braai (barbeque) on the go is the best way to enjoy the garden space.
Our open plan, French country style kitchen is the heart of our home, where a small pantry and the fully stocked spice rack inspire us daily to cook up delicious whole-food and mostly plant based meals. Culturing kefir, growing sprouts and baking rusks are weekly activities in our home (oh, and we're also growing mushrooms in the steamy bathroom). We do our best to a live a toxin and waste-free life, so you'll find only eco-friendly products in our home.
My partner and I love to spend any spare hours on the mountain or in the forest, hiking with the dogs. We're also quite fond of Saturday mornings spent at the organic goods market in town or enjoy a chilled beer at the vibey Bay Harbour lifestyle market just down the road. We're both born and bread English speaking South Africans, but also speak fluent Afrikaans (more him) and German (mostly me). If you're looking for a happy, easy going stay in the bay, we'd love to be your hosts.
During your stay with us you will be sharing our home with us and we will provide you with a light breakfast as requested by Homestay.com :)
