I've owned my house in North Michigan Park for nearly a decade. It was built in the 40's and is in wonderful shape! Downstairs consists of a living room, dining room and recently renovated kitchen. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms (mine and yours) and a bathroom that we will share. There's also a front porch (with a porch swing!) and a sizeable backyard. Washer/dryer unit in the home. There's plenty of street parking if you have a car. Your room is approximately 11' x 8' (88 sq ft). It's furnished with a double bed, dresser, and nightstand. It has 2 windows and gets loads of sunlight! *Please note: the photo here shows the room without furniture, but it definitely comes furnished! My housemate is packing and the room is not currently in a state for photos).* As mentioned above, you can pay $835 plus your share of utilities and internet, etc OR pay a flat $950, which includes utilizes (water, gas, electric, and wireless internet) and movies/TV on Amazon Prime and Hulu. One bedrooms in the new apartment complex by my house are going for $1800+ so this is a steal! The room will be available starting October 10. My basement is also recently renovated and I try to rent it out to female travelers on AirBnB (1-2 week stays or less) as much as possible. The basement doesn't have a separate entrance, so guests will pass through the living room & kitchen to get downstairs to their "private suite." The arrangement is such that AirBnb guests will not use the kitchen or be hanging out on the main floor. ***The Neighborhood*** North Michigan Park is an awesome neighborhood! It's definitely a friendly get-to-know-your-neighbors kind of neighborhood and not the typical transient DC hood. It's a mix of elderly long-term residents and youngish professionals and kids. My house is a 5-10 minute walk to the Fort Totten metro - so easy access to the green, yellow, and red lines - and right nearby the huge new development going in that you can read about here (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/where-we-live/wp/2017/07/12/art-centered-apartments-in-d-c-s-fort-totten-to-open-this-summer/). There are many restaurants and places to hang out in nearby Brookland, but soon there will be many more within feet of my front door!
