Description

The Space A rustic, comfortable former shearing quarters in the middle of farm land, surrounded by forest and open green pastures. The property is nestled among mature trees and sits on an acre of land, with a stream running along one side of the property. There are plenty of bedrooms, with queen, single and cot beds available, a main living area, separate dining, and plenty of outdoor space – three verandahs, a large back section, and outdoor dining for 14 people. Swim in the stream during the hot Wairarapa days, and cosy up by the open fire in the evenings. This 7-bedroom property is the perfect location for groups of family and friends. Sleeping: Bedroom 1: two single beds Bedroom 2: one queen bed Bedroom 3: one queen bed, one bassinet Bedroom 4: two single beds Bedroom 5: one queen bed Bedroom 6: one queen bed, one cot Bedroom 7: one queen bed, one cot Guest Access Guests have access to all shared spaces, the whole property, the river alongside the boundary of the property, and all bedrooms they have booked. The property is surrounded by working farms, so while guests can of course stroll along the road, they cannot enter any surrounding buildings (e.g. wool sheds) or paddocks. Interaction with Guests This is our holiday house, so when you're there, we're at home in Wellington. The Neighbourhood The best thing about the Quarters is that it's in the middle of nowhere – here you can truly escape to the country. There are a handful of neighbours (mainly farmers) and generally all you can hear is the babbling creek, the native birds, and an occasional flock of sheep being moved along the main road. There's no landline, no mobile coverage, no TV and no internet. Getting around You'll need a car to get from Masterton, the nearest town, which is a 45 minute drive away. Wellington is just over two hours away by car. NB the last fifteen minutes of the drive out are on shingle road. Special conditions: The most important thing is that our water supply (rainwater) is shared with the neighbouring farm and this is a fairly dry part of the country, so please use water sparingly. New Zealand countryside rules apply: mainly, if it's yellow, let it mellow. Given the nearby working farms, it's advisable to not bring dogs (or any other pets) unless they're accustomed to such things. And if you do bring animals, please not indoors. No smoking indoors (and please remove any butts from outdoors). Extras: Cleaning (Required, NZ$120.00 per stay); Linen (included);
