BEAUTIFUL FRENCH COLONIAL LUXURY. UN PARADIS FLEURI
St Claire Country House is a new, beautiful, luxurious French Colonial establishment that has a separate and private Guest House. Classical and stylish, the architecture and interior design of the Country House harks from the French colonies, such as the French Caribbean. St Claire is "belle, gracieuse et élégante".
The Guest House provides superb accommodation for gracious living –it is perfect for socialising and relaxing. The divine common room with its marble mantelpiece and gilded mirror, basket chandelier and birdcage has a well equipped kitchen, long oak dining table and chairs, and comfortable plush sitting area designed for conversation. There are three sumptuous bedrooms, each with a well appointed en suite. Bedside tables contain books on poetry and philosophy. Bathroom amenities are from the White Company of London. On the verandah outside each bedroom there is a wicker table and chairs, suitable for a quiet chat, read or drink. There is also a fab outdoor dining area with a French metal table on lush lawn, surrounded by a charming garden planted with linden trees, roses and lavender.
FRENCH COLONIAL STYLE
Instead of being French Provincial, St Claire Country House is French Colonial - possibly the first of this type in Australia. Characteristics of this style of architecture are steep roofs which flange out at the ends, dormer windows, tall chimneys, verandahs and French doors with rustic shutters. The interior styling has old world charm with 12 foot ceilings, oak floors, carved marble mantle pieces, gilded mirrors, basket chandeliers, floral wallpapers and fabrics, French furniture and soft colour everywhere.
UN PARADIS FLEURI
"A flowery paradise" - is an apt label for St Claire Country House. The beautiful interior spaces have flowers throughout and the garden has been planted in romantic style with flowering trees, old French roses and pretty perennials everywhere.

It has an Irish feeling to it and really good food at a reasonable cost. (There is live Irish music once a month.) Five minutes away by car is the village of Trentham with its trendy cafes, including Red Beard Bakery, The Trentham Collective and Chaplins; there are two gastro pubs which have won awards (The Cosmopolitan, with its beautiful beer garden, and The Plough); and the highly regarded restaurant of Annie Smithers, called du Fermier (The French Farmhouse). The other attractions of Trentham include specialist shops, a Farmers Market, the golf course, bush walks and a high long drop waterfall. 10 minutes on from Trentham is the Radio Springs Hotel at Lyonville. The Cosmopolitan and the Radio Springs feature live music, generally of the folk and Irish variety, from Fridays to Sundays.
