The Corner Shop Bed and Breakfast was formerly two shops, which was converted into a residential home and has undergone continuing renovations over the last few years. Today it is modern, light and airy and I have aimed keep and emphasise its character.
The house features a large living area with a glorious leadlight feature window and two three-seater sofas, bright and happy modern kitchen with converted tressel table breakfast bar, sunroom as dining room overlooking the garden and a large secure yard, perfect the kids or the dog.
Master bedroom - Extremely spacious with queen bed, rustic wardrobe, chest of drawers and other character furnishings.
Bedroom 2: Two beds but room to move. It has a double bed, single bed, small rustic wardrobe, and drawers to neatly put your clothes away.
Both rooms have modern plush carpet, column heater and ceiling fan.
Modern, clean bedding and linen
Tea, coffee, sugar.
Cooking oil, salt and pepper, and chilled drinking water
Please note there are still some few very minor renovation jobs to complete in the house.
Burra is a historic copper mining town with many cute old stone cottages and leafy streets.
There are many mining sites and historic sites you are able to visit and with the Burra Passport, you are given a key to access many more sites. The old bluestone ruins of its mining history are worth visiting.
Burra is 162km north of Adelaide and is a popular stop between Adelaide and Broken Hill. It is only a 30minute drive from the township of Clare, home of the famous Clare Valley and it's wineries.
Opposite the house is a pub if you feel like a drink and a short walk home. It is a good pub with a surprisingly good dine-in menu. Also in town there is an authentic pizza restaurant run by an Italian couple (closed Mon and Tue). In the centre of town there is also an Indonesian Restaurant. For lunch there is a great bakery along the main street.
