Wildside Getaway is a modern, self-sufficient eco-home on a tranquil 350 acre native bush property, with inspirational views of Mount Ruapehu and Mount Taranaki. This is the perfect getaway for families and groups looking for a genuine New Zealand outdoors experience and is also ideal as a base for snow sports, with a large drying room, great log fire and spacious games room. Stunning landscapes and wildlife make Wildside Getaway a paradise for lovers of the outdoors and photographers.
This lodge has been developed with sustainability in mind and is a great example of a warm, comfortable off-the-grid home. Power is provided by solar panels and wind turbines and hot water is provided by a combination of a wetback from the large wood burner, solar and instant gas.
All windows, doors and skylights are double-glazed and insulation has been maximised. Low emission paints, floorings and furnishings and sustainable building materials have been used where practical. Numerous items of furniture have been handcrafted from recycled native timber.
The house has a Homestar self-assessment rating of 7 stars out of 10.
